Parents have many questions when deciding on an implant for a young child. Listed below are some common questions and answers that parents in particular may ask.
How light is the BabyBTE?
The BabyBTE is the ultimate lightweight, tipping the scales at only 0.39 oz., including batteries.
How do I keep the speech processor on my baby?
Children are curious and full of life. A fixation accessory attaches to the battery pack, allowing the parent to clip or pin the speech processor to a safe location on the child’s clothing. In this configuration, the BabyBTE is securely attached and out of reach with no equipment on the ear.
How do I know when the speech processor needs new batteries?
The BabyBTE has a status light that lets you know when the speech processor needs special attention, such as low batteries. The status light also blinks in patterns to help troubleshoot common problems.
What protection will my child have against static electricity?
The unique SoundGuard feature ensures that the speech processor electronics are protected against damage or program erasure from static electricity. When static electricity is encountered, the processor powers down and the status light will flash. By simply restarting the speech processor, proper functioning is restored with no loss of program information and no need to visit the audiologist.
