Getting a VIBRANT SOUNDBRIDGE

FAQ
The middle ear implant system Vibrant Soundbridge is designed for persons, eighteen years and older, who have been diagnosed with moderate to severe sensorineural hearing loss.
The Vibrant Soundbridge is for persons who cannot use conventional hearing aids for medical reasons or who are dissatisfied with other hearing devices.

Evaluation
Persons interested in the Vibrant Soundbridge undergo audiologic tests and medical examinations to determine if the Soundbridge is a suitable treatment for them. The audiological tests assess the patient’s type of hearing impairment and degree of hearing loss.

Implantation
In a surgical procedure, the internal part of the Vibrant Soundbridge is implanted under the skin in the area behind the ear. The FMT is attached to one of the three small bones of the middle ear.

The surgery is a routine procedure for experienced ENT surgeons and usually takes one to two hours and is performed under general anaesthesia. Your surgeon will counsel you on the details of the surgery. For a list of experienced surgeons please visit our Clinic Finder

Activation of the Vibrant Soundbridge
Approximately two months following the implantation, patients are fitted with the Audio Processor and the Soundbridge is activated. From this time on, the superior sound of the Vibrant Soundbridge with all its benefits can be enjoyed.
