For Teenagers

“TeenEARS” is a test battery specifically developed for teenagers with cochlear implants. It comprises seven tests and one questionnaire. These tests cover differing levels of language competence, as well as auditory skills and psycho-social issues. The listening skills range from basic (such as environmental sounds) to more complex (such as Speech Tracking) and include open and closed-set assessments. “TeenEARS” can either be used as a follow on from the MED-EL EARS test battery, or as a stand-alone assessment battery for newly implanted teens. This test battery was developed in conjunction with a number of centres currently working with teenagers, thus reflecting what is currently being used in the field. Centres include: Yorkshire Cochlear Implant Service,
Bradford, England; South of England Cochlear Implant Service, Bristol, England; South Wales Cochlear Implant Programme, Bridgend, Wales and the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, Southampton, England.

TeenEARS includes an Instruction Manual and an Environmental Sounds CD.

TeenEARS is available in English and German.

“TesTrax” is an assessment tool designed to evaluate speech perception skills using a modified version of Speech Tracking. Eight stories are included on this CD. Each story is segmented into a series of brief phrases; a score sheet is provided. “TesTrax” is suitable for older children & adults.
